At this stage your probably thinking who are Apollo440?? Well allow me to tell all.
Apollo four forty began in 1990
in Liverpool by the three main members of @440 The Gray brothers
Howard and Trevor and friend Noko. In the early 90's these three
were well known for their dance remixes but the fact was behind
all this they were busy churning out their own unique style of
drum 'n' bass/ techno and releasing it on their own stealth sonic
recording label. In 1993 they attracted the attention of Sony
music who signed them up. Their debut album Millenium Fever began
while their was still only three of them and led to three top 40
hits for the trio and placed Apollo Four Forty at the forefront
of dance\rock style.
They then released ttheir next album " Electro
Glide in Blue " in 1997 - a much more experimental album
with all of the more familiar figures of apollo440 that we're now
used to. The experimentalism is summed up by Howard "Our
records aren't [necessarily] club chart records in the same way
as Jason Nevins--we're not trying to compete with that at all."
Nevertheless the album did create their most successful song to
date - the inspired take on the old Val Halen song Ain't Talkin
Bout Love, Ain't Talkin Bout Dub. The song became a hit almost
everywher in Britain played nonstop up and down the country's
clubs. Simirarily is true of their other big song off the album
Krupa, although not as big in the charts ( like anyone cares ) it
was an absolute smash in the clubs. What would have been their
most successful song was Carrera Rapida which would have debuted
even higher in the charts than Ain't Talkin Bout Dub but it was
deemed illegible for the charts as it was more than eight and a
half minutes long.

Intense tours in 1997 and 1998
brodened them to a major live band. They wanted to dispell the
common idea that any kind of dance group couldn't do anything
live that sounded different then anything in a recording studio.
The mixture of drums, guitars, keyboards, and loads of bass leads
Howard Gray to claim ( a bit immodestly ) that they are "the
best rock and roll band on the planet." Their ability to
rock the smallest clubs to the biggest stadiums led them on to
their latest album Gettin' High On Your Own Supply. Including the
already hits Stop The Rock and Lost in Space with
the less well known
third single Heart Go Boom. You can't escape it the simple fact
is whether you like it or not we all know an apollo440 tune. HOME
